February 27, 2026 - Fourteen Comal ISD students earned an All-State band or choir distinction this year with five receiving the ultimate achievement with a 1st chair placement.
Being named an All-State musician places them in the top 2-3 percent of Texas high school musicians who are selected annually through a highly competitive audition process that begins each fall. Recently, they represented Comal ISD at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio, performing in a variety of specialized ensembles including band, choir and jazz.
Earning 1st chair in an All-State band is truly a top honor, recognizing a student as the premier musician for their instrument in the state.
The five 1st chair honorees from Comal ISD include Alyvia Alam, soprano, All-State Choir from Canyon Lake High School; Jackson Alvarez, tenor, All-State Choir from CLHS; Caleb Atkins, trumpet, All-State Jazz Band from Davenport High School; Xavier Wolff, trombone, All-State Jazz Band from DHS; and Fred Jacob Farhat, euphonium, All-State Band from Pieper High School.
